Easy LED lights in testing equipment for small electronics
Konepaja Heinä Oy, a company based in Halikko in southern Finland, manufactures equipment for dropping and testing of small electronic devices. The company has been in the business since 1988. Recently Heinä Oy found a new partner, Easy LED Oy and they decided to apply Easy LED luminaires into their own testing equipment.
The Drop Tester, manufactured by Heinä Oy uses Easy LED’s Pro-1 Oslon lights. The Drop Tester is used to test different kind of small electronics. The device drops the products in a controlled manner to a concrete base in a wanted position, from the chosen height or with a desired speed and photographs the dropping with a high-speed camera.
Why did you choose to change the old halogen lights into LED-technology, Production Manager Ilkka Heinä from Konepaja Heinä Oy?
–The high-speed camera of the Drop Tester needs bright lights. Earlier our problem with the 2 kilowatt halogen lights has been the overheating. Sometimes the lights were so hot that it would have been dangerous for someone to touch them. Some of Drop Tester’s plastic parts were also problematic as those could melt in very hot lights. Instead the Easy LED lights produce very little heat, but they still give a strong light.
Why did you decide to choose lights from Easy LED?
Easy LED had earlier given us lights for an other use, so we had some experience with LED luminaires. Once when we were testing the Drop Tester, the halogen lights heated up again and I remembered those lights from Easy LED. We changed those to the machine and the lights were immediately working well. When we changed the lights to the right kind of Easy LED lights, those were working even better for our purposes. In addition it is nice to support a Finnish producer and even more so to support a local company from our hometown Salo.
